Although I have curated this exhibition it was always my intention to show my work alongside Up & Coming artists in my own city as part of the Liverpool Capital of Culture 2008. I feel extremely privileged to have been part of this experience as I am sure that this will carry on for years to come.

I am currently studying for my MA Contemporary Fine Art Curating at Sheffield Hallam University and relish the challenges ahead for my final year 2009, especially working as a Fine Artist, Curator and Educator.

I am currently working on a project titled Photo Booth 2008. This started from collecting rejected passport images from the UK passport office. My research into ‘biometrics’ and the data in which government legislation warrants how you must sit for your passport photograph and what information can be held within will continue with all the information that I have gathered thus far.

I am interested in how the sitter acts in front of the camera showing how they perform and act whilst their image is being taken. The camera flashes intermittently giving the sitter four photographs but not necessarily to UK passport legislation, thus showing the personality of the sitter. I am questioning to what extent does the passport photograph show a true meaning of the person?
